Busy, Busy, Busy - Walking For Liver Walk Again
Hi Folks
Sorry for the delay in updating the Blog. It's not because I've been lazy - well maybe a little. Been very busy working the cause. Since the last update, I've done a community service interview in April (Organ Donation Awareness Month) with WMBC TV in West Caldwell, NJ, with a representative of Share NJ - the state organization for organ donations. I've also spoken to the latest incoming group to join the NYU transplant program. Nancy and I offered perspective on our experiences with my liver transplant.
It's been a fabulous 29 months now since my life-saving liver transplant - as of May 19. My health is great - no complaints - and we're looking forward to a great showing again at Liver Walk in a few weeks.
We are deeply grateful for your past support of our efforts at fund-raising for the American Liver Foundation and hope that many of you can not only contribute again, but join our Save David Foundation team and raise further donations yourselves.
Liver disease strikes 1 in 10 Americans. Hepatitis C is the most common chronic blood borne viral infection in the U.S., afflicting about 4 million Americans. As many as 6,000 people die each year from Hepatitis B; many liver disease have no known cure. More than 17,000 people are awaiting liver transplants, including 1,700 in the greater New York area.
Nancy and I will be walking at the 2007 Liver Walks in New York City - in a beautiful new location in Battery Park in lower Manhattan this year - on June 10 and at Liberty State Park in Jersey City on June 17. Both walks are 5K - 3.1 miles. Check in time is 8:30 AM for walks beginning at 9:30 AM. Rain or shine!
Anyone who wants to run - not just walk - is welcome, too!
