David is amazing

David is doing very well. Yesterday morning the
doctors took the respirator off and by the afternoon
he had the oxygen mask off. He is able to speak to me
and says he feels like he got hit by a truck. He is
doing remarkable for what he has been through. They
even had him up and out of bed late in the afternoon.
He wasn't very steady on his feet and it took a lot
out of him to stand up. When he was back in bed he
said to the nurse, "wow, that was great, I feel like I
just ran the marathon." He is expected to get out of
bed again today and walk alittle. AMAZING!

His coloring is already looking much better. He is
starting to get his pinkish glow back instead of the
Homer Simpson yellow. His eyes are swollen and when
he asked the nurse about it she said, "the whites of
your eyes are swollen", David said, "the WHITES of my
eyes? I love that expression".

Doctors say he will stay in ICU for another 3 days or
so and then transfer to a regular room. He just might
be home for the New Year, but we are just so happy
that he got his Christmas miracle and we are taking
one day at a time.
Love to all,
Nancy

GO DAVID< GO DAVID GO DAVID!!! Run (or in your case right now - walk) the straight race through God's good grace....Glad to hear he is up and about - I am starting to think he is part angel himself......Here is my quote for today:

"Tis God the Spirit leads
IN paths before unkown;
The work to be performed is ours,
The strength is all His own.

Supported by His grace,
We still pursue our way;
Assured that we shall reach the prize,
Secure in endless day.

GOd works in us to will,
He works in us to do;
His is the power by which we act,
His be the glory too.

may David's every step be supported and strengthened by the Lord; may His grace carry him through this recovery and bring him home to you! Oh, and Nancy - you said how amazing David is?! I think you optimize grace, courage, and strength yourself - you two definitely are made for each other!! Tell David to keep up the good work! They will soon have him doing laps around the nurses station at the rate he is going. hugs - Amy

I hope that "regular room" means David can get a visit from the kids...You and David (and Alex and Tasha) remain in our thoughts and prayers...the worst seems to be over but that doesn't mean we've stopped thinking about you.
Of course, I can't wait for the day where you're doing so well that I can take you for granted again!
Tell David I saw an old friend, Abudi Zein, tonight (old KR days), who wishes him the best.
Pam.
